Crashes on signing into Xbox Live on Pocket edition

I'm running minecraft version 1.2.6.1 on my s8+ and it crashes once the game signs me into xbox live. I have tried uninstalling the game and rebooting my phone. i can't find anything after a few hours of searching on here... no one else seems to be having an issue and the official troubleshooting hasn't produced any results?

Any idea?
