Arena Death Match - How To Win?

Hi,

I recently encountered a pretender that did nothing but spam summon legions of dead. My pretender was quite powerful actually, but it was impossible for him to win this battle. It must have taken 100 summons of dead to beat me. My pretender spent all their abilities just fighting off the hordes of skeletons and they eventually nickle and dimed me to death. I've been brainstorming trying to figure out how my pretender could ever win in this situation.

Please help.
